Radio Interview

Cliff Tredway

Host

Total Axxess Live

CHRSN

Cliffs' Career Capsule
I've done the typical radio thang...traveling all over the country. My background is Top 40 making stops in Austin, Atlanta, Detroit, Phoenix and then to San Antonio where I programmed for 10 years. After leaving San Antonio I went to Chicago to join in on the sign on of The Fish then went to
the left coast to program Air 1. Whew...I'm tired!

1. How did the concept of Total Axxess Live come about?

It was actually a dream of Doug Hannah and John Frost and Faron Dice as a way to grow the CHRSN and line up with the mission of reaching 20 million listeners by 2007.

2. How do you prep for the show on a daily basis?

I live my life...believe me that's all the prep I need. No, obviously I prepare for artists interviews both with real questions that will inform as well as Cliff's loaded questions which are just a lot of fun.

3. Take us behind the scenes ... who answers the incoming phone calls, picks the music, etc?

Doug has done a great job empowering me to get the job done however it takes. I have a producer who handles all the production stuff, but I pretty much run the entire show on the air.

4. Why do you think Christian radio is ready for a show like Total Axxess Live?

It's time to stop doing business as usual! Christianity is not about dogma and duties! It's about living your life in a way that reflects Jesus Christ. This show has been designed as an encouraging place where Christians can have a blast while opening up the door to those far from God who are looking for a big dose of hope! I pray this show will be that springboard for them.

5. What if affiliate stations want you to visit their market...will that be possible?

We are working on that now...the Total Axxess Road Show.

6. How have Christian Record labels been a help to the show so far?

They have been very responsive. I believe they recognize this is more than just getting an artist on a show, but to expose the artist and the music to a national audience.

7. In your opinion what are the biggest obstacles facing Christian radio today?

Ourselves! Isn't interesting how we see our limitations while God sees our potential. With God all is possible...we gotta live that way!

8. What do you believe is the primary role of the Christian radio air personality today?

To encourage and uplift. I believe it is my role to be the first step for someone who is seeking God and to encourage that person on their journey!

9. What (if any) other Christian radio stations do you consider as innovators today?

KLTY.

10. Where do you see Christian radio in 5 years?

The potential is limitless! With the crossover success of many Christian Artists into the mainstream it is
simply amazing how God is and will be using this medium to spread the Gospel in a relevant way. The time has come! God is tapping us on the shoulder to get it done! Radio will be a huge tool in His arsenal!
