As reported first on
HisAir.Net there is a conflict as to who owns the rights to
the show 20 The Countdown Magazine. Two weekly
versions of the show are being distributed, one from Rick
Tarrants Communion Communications using Rick and guest hosts
and another by Westar hosted by Jon Rivers. HisAir.Net has
learned that this weeks show from Westar includes a letter
from Rivers to affiliates stating that he owns a federal
trademark on the name of the show and his is the "official"
version. It also states that he has filed a lawsuit. Many
stations are confused as to which version to air and have
chosen to play one on Saturday and the other on Sunday.
We'll keep you posted. (9/15)

What's going on
regarding ownership of the program
"20 The Countdown Magazine"?
The long running program is owned by Communion
Communications and Rick Tarrant.
Recently Westar Media has taken the program, along
with Jon Rivers, the host, and started producing a second
version of the show with the same name leading to a lot of
confusion in Christian radio as to which one to air. Westar
sent out a notice to stop downloading the show from the FTP
site, which is owned by Communion Communications, and began
sending out CDs without the previous advertising.
Westar is using the name and the
graphics from the original show. This may be headed to court
to settle. (9/12)
Matt
Mungle is back at KTPW Dallas and rejoins Chris Goodwin on
"The Morning Brothers." Matt was previously with The Salem

MercyMe

from its top-selling 2002 project Spoken For, sets
the record for a #1 song at ten weeks on R&R Magazine’s
AC radio chart, and eleven weeks on both the CRW and
PDA AC radio charts. This breaks the eight-week
record held by this year’s GMA Song of the Year winner,
Nichole Nordeman. Spoken For continues to generate
sales as well, currently at #10 on the Top Contemporary
Christian Soundscan chart after 48 weeks in release. (9/11)

Production
for the nationally syndicated show "Christian Future Hits"
will be in hiatus until further notice. The shows
producers state "our heart for this show from the
beginning was to put God first and produce a quality
weekly show for Christian radio featuring the best new
music and the artists testimonies. We regret that at this
point the overall lack of interest from Christian radio in
a show of this type will cause Christian Future Hits to be
put on hold until further notice. Special thanks to Jason
Miller at Allaccess.com, Rick Welke at Radio & Records,
Libby at WBSN, and the many record labels that showed
their support." (9/4)
