Bill
Lurwick from KJIL/Meade tells HisAir.Net: "At at about 12:30 CST,
on 12/31/06, the top 200 feet of KJIL's 945ft. tower collapsed due to
heavy icing that had occurred over the previous 48 hours, during the
devastating storms that have affected the western plains. Please pray
for us as we work on deciding what action to take. Pray that we will
find someone that can come put up a new tower quickly. As most of you
know, we have had severe ice and wind over the last couple of days.
Utility companies in the area experienced over 5000 telephone poles
snapping. The tower was also home to our Inspirational station KHYM.
The cables loaded with ice seemed to pull the top section apart. There
are portions of the tower on all three
sides. It is still dangerous to walk near the tower so we refrained
from a close inspection of the pieces on the
ground. It does not seem that there is any damage to the building.
There is $200,000 in equipment in the
building. We have insurance, please join us in prayer as we plan for
the future, and for our listeners who will be without their Christian
radio voice's that are KJIl and KHYM." (12/31)

1360 AM WKAT/Miami will be launching a fresh line-up of Christian
Talk programs beginning January 1. Joe D. Davis, executive vice
president and chief operating officer of Salem, explained that Salem and
its ministry programming partners have long sought a Miami presence to
launch its Christian Teaching and Talk programming, the company's
foundational format. "Since entering Miami in 2005, we have looked for
an opportunity to offer South Florida listeners quality Christian talk
programming. The new format will serve the thousands of listeners who
have no local radio resource for many of these popular ministry
programs."
Tony Calatayud, general
manager of WKAT, said, "This is an opportunity to reach the 12th largest
market with some of the strongest national and local ministry leaders
who provide programming that really impact people's daily lives. Miami
and Ft. Lauderdale have vibrant local churches, and 1360 AM WKAT will be

Two
Dayton area Christian radio stations WFCJ and WEEC are joining forces with a
shared-services agreement. The agreement allows the stations to share
advertising dollars, promotional campaigns, staff members, equipment,
vehicles and other assets. They also will jointly host concerts and

According to a local newspaper report the two stations always have acted
more like partners than competitors -- one station's workers will cover
for the other when the first has a company event, said Clair Miller,
vice president and general manager of WFCJ. By cooperating, the stations
will end up saving money, Miller said. "We have two stations here that
have very good reputations, and we're each going to draw on the good
reputation that the other one has," he said.
WFCJ, based in
Miamisburg, has budgeted $900,000 for 2007 and has 14 employees. It's
owned by nonprofit organization

program specifically targeted at listeners "50 or better." PrimeLife
Radio, developed by station Programming/Marketing Manager Mark Daniels,
offers a fast-paced blend of conversation and information for the city's
largest--and growing--demographic segment. "Philadelphia is second only
to Miami in the number of 65+ residents in a single American city," says
Daniels. "That population in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania is set to
double in the next 10 years alone. When you add the 50 to 64 year old
'junior seniors' seeking information for themselves and their parents,
we feel we're simply preparing to better serve an audience that's
already listening to our stations." "Advertiser interest in the program
has been very high," adds station VP/GM Russ Whitnah. "The appeal and
approach of PrimeLife Radio is complementary to the established News
Talk and Christian Teaching and Talk formats of our Philadelphia
stations." (11/1)

Relevant
Radio lays off 28. Citing a need to balance the budget, Relevant
Radio announced a network restructuring plan that resulted in laying off
28 people. The Catholic radio network owns or operates 17 radio stations
and has an additional 17 affiliated stations in 14 states. All of the
stations will remain on the air. The restructuring plan does not affect
the network's listener-interactive radio talk show format. Company
officials reported that projected revenue for 2007 would not support the
current organizational structure. Relevant Radio is a nonprofit
organization operated by Starboard Media Foundation. It began
broadcasting in 2000. (10/19)

tomorrow (10/5), Big John & Cisco in the Morning, featuring
veteran Chicago broadcasters John Howell and Cisco Cotto. The show will
air weekdays, 5:00 - 9:00 a.m. David Santrella, vice president and

those issues from a conservative point of view." Howell began his
