According
to a December study by the Mellman Group (commissioned by
NAB), about 78 percent of Americans say "local" radio
provides a "very important" or "somewhat important" role in
providing news and information considered relevant to the
community. Additionally, an overwhelming number of those
polled said they are satisfied with overall programming
provided by their local outlets. 77 percent indicated their
favorite station plays the music they like at lease some of
the time, while almost 30 percent said local radio provides
more variety today than 5 years ago. (1/2)
