Moody Broadcasting Network (MBN) names Barry Marsh Station Manager at WRMB/West Palm Beach. Marsh has been a WRMB listener since his 1983 conversion from Jehovah's Witnesses, and is a Moody Bible Institute (MBI) alumni.  (3/4)

A total of 34 employees at the Word Label Group were let go this week. The change implemented by Warner Music Groups new owners included four in marketing, three in A&R, one in radio promotions and the elimination of the publicity department. Future publicity at Word will be outsourced. Meanwhile label head Malcolm Mimms, President Barry Landis and Sr. VP/A&R Shawn McSpadden are retained.  (3/2)

Salem Communications Corporation announces that former Secretary of Education William J. Bennett will host a new, national morning talk radio show on the SRN network beginning Monday, April 5th. "We'll deliver a fast-paced, eye opening national morning show with news, headline-making guests from the worlds of politics, media, sports and entertainment, and we'll open up a dialogue with listeners from coast to coast every morning," Bennett said. The new radio program entitled Bill Bennett's "Morning in America" will be broadcast live from Washington DC every weekday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (Eastern)...

Also at Salem, Denise Davis is named to the newly-formed position of director of communications. Davis will be responsible for strategic public relations planning, handling media relations efforts, providing guidance and counsel to the three strategic formats of Salem. Salem fourth quarter net broadcasting revenue increased 12.8% to $45.8 million from $40.6 million in the same period a year ago. The company reported operating income of $10.4 million for the quarter, compared with operating income of $8.7 million for the same quarter in 2002. The company reported net income of $2.1 million for the quarter, or $0.09 per diluted share, compared with a net loss of $0.7 million, or $0.03 loss per diluted share, for the same quarter in 2002. Total Axxess with host Cliff Tredway, heard nightly on The Christian Hit Radio Satellite Network, will feature a special show this Tuesday night (2/24) about the "Passion of the Christ" movie. “People are talking about this movie, and we wanted to find out what Christian artists had to say about it,” says Tredway. Several top Christian music artists have been invited to a special Icon-authorized, sneak-preview screening of the Passion of the Christ on Tuesday night, February 24th (the night before the movie releases nation-wide).
