The
Family Radio Network/Appleton, WI had a
record-breaking year of community generosity
through their 23rd annual ‘Help for the
Homeless’ hygiene drive. More than $343,000
worth of new hygiene and cleaning products have
been rounded up, sorted, and delivered to 79
local Wisconsin crisis programs. “A mother and
son moved into an apartment after being homeless
for three weeks. All of their finances were
needed for rent. With nothing except a bit of
clothing, they were very grateful to receive the
hygiene supplies. Mom said ‘Now my bathroom
looks like a bathroom; I didn’t know how I was
going to get everything we needed. This helps so
much!’ She was stunned, that the community had
donated just what she needed, and she can’t wait
to be in a position to donate supplies for
others in need.” –Heather Kangas, Domestic
Abuse Victim Advocate, CAP Services.

Salem has signed author, columnist, speaker and TV personality Eric
Metaxas (at left) to do a new afternoon talk
show on SRN starting Monday, April 20th. The
two-hour program will air live weekday
afternoons 2pm to 4pm ET. "We are extremely
enthusiastic to have Eric join the Salem
platform," said Phil Boyce, Senior Vice

to get Eric to join us for two years, and this
opportunity seemed to be a perfect match. He'll
do a great show every day that will inspire
listeners and help stations grow their
audience."
Eric Metaxas is a #1 New York Times bestselling author known for mobilizing people to ask bigger questions and live more meaningful lives. His smash best-seller Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet Spy is ranked #21 by Amazon in "most highlighted books of all time," and his books have been translated into more than twenty languages. Eric created a national stir in 2012 when his keynote address at the National Prayer Breakfast created a tidal wave of support and his recent Wall Street Journal article "Science Increasingly Makes the Case for God" is the most popular article ever published at the WSJ online. Eric lives in Manhattan with his wife and family and will broadcast the daily program from Salem Radio Network studios in the Empire State Building.
"I've waited for the right opportunity, and this is it," said Eric. "Stu Epperson, Ed Atsinger, Phil Boyce, Hugh Hewitt, and Dennis Prager and all the rest are people I've revered for years. To be a part of what they are doing is an honor and a privilege. What's more, it will be fun and I'm champing at the bit to get started."
"In our continuing efforts to add value to all of our platforms, we are delighted to have Eric Metaxas join us to create a new and exciting daily radio program that will be entertaining, enlightening, and will truly make a difference," said Salem Media Group CEO, Ed Atsinger.
“Our goal is to create a great talk program that Christian stations will feel proud to carry, but could also be a true cross-over to the News Talk arena," said Dave Santrella, Salem President of Broadcast Media... Click here to watch the announcement and signing... (2/26)

After
a successful return to Christian radio earlier
this month on WAY-FM, The HopeLine with Dawson
McAllister is now offering clearance to the
general Christian market focusing on CCM radio
stations. “When WAY FM asked the question,
‘What would it take for you to return to
Christian radio?’, it did not take long to
realize that this was a divine appointment.”
said Tim Altman, CEO of the Dawson McAllister
Association. “I could not be more excited about
the high quality of the production, the
opportunity to take the show to new stations,
and most especially, the teens and young adults
we will be able to serve.” For 17 years
Dawson McAllister was heard Sunday Nights on
over 300 Christian radio stations with Dawson
McAllister Live before transitioning exclusively
to Top 40/Mainstream stations in 2007 in a
syndication agreement with Premiere Radio
Network. After years of requests from Christian
stations and former listeners for Dawson to
return along with the recent opportunity
presented by WAY-FM, he made the decision to
launch this new Saturday Night show.
“The unique thing about this show is that I have the opportunity to challenge my audience to make a difference in their world by having an impact in the lives of their friends – I love of idea of partnering with teenagers and young adults to change the world one life at a time.” said McAllister. The HopeLine with Dawson McAllister is a three-hour interactive call-in show, airing Saturday nights from 9pm to 12 midnight Eastern Time, where 13-29 year olds can call and talk to Dawson about all the issues of their lives. In return, Dawson and his co-host Sarah Lee offer trustworthy Biblically-based common sense advice and encouragement that is truly life-changing. Sarah Lee will also bring a unique and valuable female perspective. The critical backend to the show is TheHopeLine, Dawson’s off-air coaching center with Hope Coaches available via phone or live chat 24 hours a day. The HopeLine with Dawson McAllister will be distributed on the Ambassador AMB-OS platform with the first official general Christian market broadcast on March 28th, 2015. (2/25)

team up with CNN as the exclusive radio outlet
to broadcast three televised GOP presidential
primary debates, sanctioned by the Republican
National Committee. Salem will air the debates
live with special pre- and post-debate coverage
on the Salem Radio Network. "We are pleased to
be working with CNN," said David Santrella,
President of Broadcast Media at Salem. “I am
confident that both the access to our audiences
and the incorporation of Salem talent will make
the debates more accessible for the American
electorate.”
The first of the three televised debates will take place September 16th at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, CA. Salem’s nationally syndicated radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt (pictured) will join in the Q&A of this debate. Hewitt will also broadcast special editions of his program pre- and post-debate. At the conclusion of the debate, candidates will be invited to join Hewitt to talk candidly about the event and the pressing issues facing the nation. "I am delighted to be included with journalists posing questions as part of one of America's finest political traditions -the presidential debate," said Hewitt. "These televised debates come at a critical time, and good questions will allow Republican primary voters the opportunity to see and hear their would-be nominees provide answers to issues that genuinely concern them. Any reporter who is also a political junkie welcomes the chance to be on such a panel, which of course I do." (2/24)

Salem Media Group and CharityOne, producer of the syndicated radio program "KeepTheFaith," have announced a joint advertising sales and syndication agreement that will give the program 80% U.S. population coverage. Beginning April 1, Salem will handle all national advertising sales for the show, as well as the early pre-morning drive show, which currently reaches more than 1.7 million listeners. Salem will add the show to many of Salem's top-25-market Christian teach/talk radio stations, plus the majority of its music stations. Salem President, Broadcast Media, David Santrella says, "Salem and Salem Media Reps are enthusiastic about the opportunity to represent KeepTheFaith. The program gets high praise from affiliates and from Salem's own veteran, contemporary Christian music program directors. This is a quality program that advertisers are eager to be a part of and we are thrilled to provide the access."
Executive Producers of the KeepTheFaith brand include Christian Radio veterans, Joe Battaglia and John Frost, and CharityOne executive director David Sams. Sams comments on the arrangement saying, "We are very humbled that Salem recognizes the hard work that has gone into building the KeepTheFaith franchise. We are even more humbled that the audience appreciates the mix of great stories, music, and unprecedented production. Content matters. The execution of that content for today's very demanding audience is vitally important. Face it, with the likes of Twitter, we live in a 140 character universe. Attention spans are short. So, you have to make every word you put out over the air really matter. Our mission is simple, to make encouragement contagious through positive, life-affirming stories and songs." (2/23)
Salem Communications Corporation announced today that it has changed its name to Salem Media Group, Inc. to reflect the dynamic growth of Salem’s multi-media business, including radio, digital, print and mobile. Salem owns 106 radio stations across the country, and produces several of the largest nationally-syndicated radio shows on-air today. “Salem’s mission has always been to serve our two core audiences – Christian and conservative – with engaging and meaningful content” explained Edward Atsinger, Salem’s Chief Executive Officer. “That mission brought us into radio, and it has guided our growth ever since. As more and more of our audience seeks new ways to get information and inspiration, we have added new media platforms to our traditional radio offerings. Now nearly one-third of our total revenue comes from non-broadcast sources. This rebranding of Salem acknowledges our evolution and confirms our commitment to serve our market.” (2/23)

During
its annual Vision Week, Positive Alternative
Radio announces a new wing of its ministry
called: PAR Impact. Eddie Baker, president of
PAR, said, “This new wing of PAR allows us to
have a concentrated effort on partnering with
other national and local non-profits. This is
critical to our long term success for it allows
us to grow our local ecosystem.” As a result,
PAR announces a partnership with global
ministry, World Help.
“We couldn’t be happier with this partnership.
World Help has the ‘entire package’ as an impact
ministry. They’ve planted more than 68,000
churches around the world, provided impoverished
villages with clean water through their
water-well projects, helped children out of
poverty through their Child Sponsorship Program,
and they’ve been able to print and distribute
over 9.7 million Bibles—and that’s just the tip
of the iceberg,” said Eddie Baker, president of
Positive Alternative Radio.
Brian Sanders, Executive VP of PAR, commented,
“We’re working hard to adopt a Gospel-centered
business and ministry model. This is a huge
piece of that effort. World Help has an amazing
legacy and a very bright future. PAR looks
forward to engaging our listeners and raving
fans by inspiring them to change the world
through World Help. We’re also amazed that the
Lord led us to a global ministry that is based
right here in our own backyard. Our corporate
offices are within 90 minutes of each other!”

dedicated to helping Christian radio get
stronger, and so are we. That’s why this long
term partnership makes so much sense.” “In a day

radio. We also want to extend an offer to help
any way we can,” he said.
Eddie Baker, PAR’s President, stated, “This is a

WMIT/Asheville
(106.9 The Light) Director of Programming and
Promotions Carol Davis checks in with HisAir.Net
with an update on Ken Mayfield. Last month Ken
fell
4 stories onto a concrete floor while doing work
in the attic of his church Suffering broken ribs
and a bruised lung. The update was actually
written by Ken's son Kellan.
“We are so overwhelmed at God's goodness. Yesterday was full of milestones for Dad, as the Lord continues to work miracles in the process of his healing. We were initially given a scare in the morning after the doctors said that the fluid in Dad's chest had returned and that he would need an ultrasound to see just how much was there. If it was a substantial amount, he would more than likely have to undergo surgery. We started to pray that God would reverse this and that an operation would not be necessary. We asked the Lord for good news... and He began to provide in ways that we could not imagine. The results of the ultrasound showed that the fluid was nearly gone. Dad would not need surgery! Not only that, but after a walk all the way down the hall (which he was able to do without any assistance) his heart monitors showed that he was now getting enough oxygen on his own without the need for a breathing aid, and was able to have his nasal cannula removed.
But the good news didn't stop there... his condition has improved so dramatically that the doctors said he didn't need the IV to deliver his body fluids any longer. In 2 days, Dad lost 3 tubes, and is now free of every single medical apparatus that his body has had to rely on these past couple of weeks. This morning he took his first walk down the hall without a single tube or wire, and to watch it happen was nothing short of incredible, because we know how far he has come and how many miracles the Lord has worked in his body. And we have felt your prayers. We’ve been made aware that his story has been told to hundreds of churches across the nation (and even in Africa), whose people have been lifting him up in agreement with us in prayer. We could not feel more blessed by our friends and family right now. To see Dad's strength return, to see him smile, to watch him break down in tears because he is so overwhelmed at the love of God and His people, is truly an experience that is humbling and unforgettable. Today, Dad is stronger than ever, and another prayer request was answered when we were told he would be able to go home this week where he can continue to rest and heal. God hasn't stopped answering our prayers yet, and we don't anticipate that He will anytime soon. To Him be all the glory.” (1/6)
Salem
has converted 7 more of its News Talk stations
to "The Answer" bringing the number to 20 Answer
branded stations owned by
Salem around
the country. The following stations made the
brand change: KCBQ/San Diego, now AM 1170 The
Answer, KLFE/Seattle, now AM 1590 The Answer,
KZNT/Colorado Springs, now AM 1460 The Answer,
WGKA/Atlanta, now AM 920 The Answer, WGUL/Tampa,
now AM 860 The Answer, WGTK/Louisville, now 970
AM The Answer, WLSS/Sarasota, now AM 930 The
Answer.
Salem began using the Answer branding for AM 970 WNYM, its News Talker in New York City in April of 2012. The name caught on, and soon Salem stations in LA, Dallas, and Chicago had joined the crowd. "We discovered that our listeners are information seekers, always craving the answer to every possible question, from why am I stuck in Traffic to who won the November election," said Salem Senior VP of Spoken Word Formats Phil Boyce. "This branding allows our stations to cut through in markets where they are competing with more established stations that only need their call letters as a brand. We needed something more, and this works," said Boyce. (1/16)
