(Faith Radio) owner Scott Beigle recently delivered 300 solar-powered
radios to the ladies at Gadsden Correctional Institution. He hopes to do
the same for the male population there soon, as well as inmates at the
Gadsden County Jail. The radios are made possible through donations from
listeners and supporters of the station. He’s amazed how ministry has
grown and expanded into areas he would have never foreseen. Beigle
said. “after visiting with inmates at the prison, one of the guys told
me that they pray for me and my family. I near-bout broke down.” That
blessing, however, didn’t surprise Beigle. “When you help other people,
God blesses you,” he said. “He will supply our needs. It’s happened (to

did we choose to affiliate with God's Country? This was an easy
decision for us. Contemporary Christian music, over the last decade,
has seen explosive growth and popularity. With Contemporary Country
music being the top format in America, it was long overdue to have a
Country format that was programmed for a Christian audience.

 Dick
Bott, Sr. founder and president of Bott Radio Network
has some advice for Christian radio
stations that may be asked to run advertisements supporting a
pro-abortion political candidate.
Bott says according to FCC rules and regulations, if a radio
stations sells advertising to one political candidate for federal
office, it must sell advertising to the candidate of the opposing
party. "The campaign for Bill Clinton, while he was running
for president, bought advertising on our radio stations, Bott Radio
Network stations. However, we did two things," Bott explains. "We
used our right of editorial commentary to inform our audience
exactly why we were carrying spot announcements for somebody who was
clearly pro-abortion without a doubt, and in our opinion had many
policies they supported that were anti-family." Liberal political

A
man was shot and killed by law enforcement officers outside WTLR/State
College, PA this morning. Police
contacted the radio station and informed the people there that there was
a "credible threat" to their safety, and urged them to move away from
the windows to the interior of the building. Three people were inside
the building.
Police said the man might be heading to the station. Mark VanOuse,
station manager, said he received a warning from someone at 10:05 a.m.
“The person called and said there was someone they knew and he was upset
and he was headed our way with intent to do harm,” About 25
minutes after the initial call, Van Ouse said he heard the sound of an
engine gunning. He saw an older model white SUV driving erratically
around the station building on the grass. “There were
numerous gunshots that rang out,” VanOuse said. VanOuse said he didn’t
know who was firing. One witness said it appeared police were trying to
shoot the Bronco's tires. It was not known if the suspect fired any of
the shots. Police
surrounded the truck, and witnesses said it appears police shot the
driver through the windows. (7/25)

(

) is asking supporters to "Tell the FCC to keep free speech free"
and encourages people to write to the FCC or their Congressman to
defeat the FCC's localism
proposals. The groups web site argues that the FCC proposals could
silence Christian radio stations by involving other members of the
community who do not share their views.
The site also state, "The FCC is considering a
proposal that would force every radio station to take programming
advice from community advisory boards broadly representative of an
area’s population. That means that Christian broadcast stations
could be forced to take programming advice from people whose values
are at odds with the Gospel... Although not directed specifically at
those using the airwaves to disseminate the Good News of the Gospel,
potential rule changes could put Christian Broadcasters in an
untenable position. If enacted, the proposals could force Christian
radio programmers to either compromise their messages by including
input from those who don’t share the same values, or to run the risk
of costly, long and potentially ruinous government inquiries."

The
most popular reason for tuning in to Christian radio is to listen to
Christian music (56 percent), 40 percent of Christians say they tune
in to listen to sermons and teaching, according to a survey by
Wilson Research Strategies. "There is a much higher demand for
teaching programs than what the conventional wisdom might expect,"
commented Rick Dunham, president and CEO of Dunham+Company, which
commissioned the survey. Furthermore, those who are primarily driven
to listen to Christian music are predominantly women aged 18-44 and
are more likely to attend church less frequently, while those who
tune in to Christian radio to listen to teaching/sermons tend to be
older men and women and attend church more frequently.
"There is a
distinct difference between those who tune into Christian radio to
listen to music compared to those who want teaching,” Dunham noted in a
news release. “I think it is safe to say that those who desire teaching
content are in fact the more serious Christians who are definitely
connected with their local church.” Across the nation, an
estimated 46 percent of Christian adults – representing more than 69
million people – tune in to Christian radio compared to the 91 percent
of Christian adults who tune in to general radio. According to the
latest survey, nearly two-thirds (65 percent) of those who listen to
Christian radio do so at least several times per week, with nearly
one-third (29 percent) saying they tune in every day. That represents
approximately 20 million people who listen to Christian radio each day.
Regarding
the findings on those who tune into Christian radio for
teaching/sermons, Dunham said it is “good news for Christian
programmers.” “This is … an important challenge to Christian radio
station owners to understand the importance of the teaching program to
Christian adults across America,” he added.
Other
notable findings from the survey include the demographics of those who
tune into Christian programming. Listeners were found to be
predominantly women 45-54 years of age, frequent churchgoers,
Pentecostal/Charismatic, residents of the South, politically
conservative, and self-described activists.

group called the
Matthew 25 Network, which aims to corral Christian voters for

Here's the copy:
Narrator: "You know it's an
election year when certain people start grabbing headlines by
attacking the faith of Presidential candidates. With all these
stones being cast at Senator Obama, it can be hard to know what to
believe. But in Luke, Jesus taught us that we must listen to what a
man says because "out of the overflow of his heart, his mouth
speaks." So here are words from Senator Obama's heart: Obama: "I
think we make a mistake when we fail to acknowledge the power of
faith in people's lives" "kneeling beneath that cross on the South
Side, I felt that I heard God's spirit beckoning me. I submitted
myself to His will, and dedicated myself to discovering His truth."

After
more than 19 years of broadcasting the Gospel,
Little Samaritan Mission
will no longer be on the air in Romania. That's the word from the
ministry's founder and president Florin Pindicblaj who says, "The
American dollar is so low compared to the Euro dollar. We were not able
to pay the bills month by month. We decided to relinquish all 26 radio
stations. On the 1st of October, Little Samaritan will cease to
broadcast its programs in Romania." According to Pindicblaj, last
November was the determining factor in their decision. "In the last two
years, we were affected financially. It was harder and harder every
month. Last year during the Sharathon (in November), we said this
Sharathon will decide if we will continue our ministry through the radio
in Romania."
Funding was
ultimately the issue. "We needed $40,000 per month to maintain the
operations of 26 radio stations, the satellite, the internet and the
personnel. We just did not have the funds." The purchase price was
not disclosed, but the money will be used to support their radio network
in nearby Moldova. Pindicblaj says the station was sold to another
Christian organization called Voice of Hope. He's not sure how the
broadcasts will change with the new ownership. (7/1)

Media Technologies Announces record numbers in system activity for
its Play MPE® digital delivery system compared to the same period last
year. Play MPE® further cements itself as the industry standard for
digital delivery and proving to be the only system of choice for
broadcasters and record labels. Play MPE® posted dramatic growth over
2007 and continues to lead the industry with the adoption of digital
delivery. Record numbers across the board includes a 135% increase in
downloads, streams, burns and exports totaling almost 6 million in
activity. Users jumped over 52% to 21,476 installed and tracks in the
system exploded to almost 87,000 representing an increase of 80%
compared to June 2007. Signed agreements with both Universal Music Group
and EMI Music Group and every other major label including Warner Music

only digital delivery system that can provide one central service for
all major labels and all releases.

any other digital delivery system and sets the benchmark in the
industry. It is the only system to have releases for all music formats
from all the major labels. It has the highest adoptions, installations

incredible growth proves that we are fast approaching critical mass and
widespread industry usage towards digital delivery. What a ride it has

Dan
Raines and Jim Houser, managers of Steven Curtis Chapman released
this statement today regarding
the
horrible accident killing Maria Chapman. "These have been dark and
trying days of deep sadness. The Chapman family is struggling with grief
and wrestling to come to terms with the new normal. It will be a long
road. And yet, we want you to know that we see them holding on to the
truth of Gospel, just as we hope we would, just as you expect they
might. It is not a false strength, nor a false hope. It is authentic
sorrow and true belief simultaneously. Steven, Mary Beth and the
entire Chapman extended family has asked that we thank each of you who
have prayed for this family. They are overwhelmed with your good care
and an unearthly strength to carry on that they believe is from your
prayers sustaining them." Your condolences do comfort and if
you’ve not yet had the opportunity to drop a note and “meet Maria”

Major Christian Record
Labels including Curb, EMI, CMG, INO, Integrity, Provident, and Word
have signed agreements or renewals with
Destiny Media Technologies
to use Play
MPE®
to digitally deliver pre-release music to radio.
"Play MPE® is the sole standard of digital delivery for the
Christian format," said Dean Ernst,
VP of MPE Operations. "This format is a great example of how an
industry can move from physical CD to digital when it is done in an
organized and collective manner. We are grateful for the continued
support and thank both labels and radio for making us the clear and
only choice for digital delivery."
Brian Dishon, VP National Promotions,
Provident Label Group, remarks "Sometimes it's scary how technology
can change our behavior in such a large-scale way without us even being
aware that it is happening so efficiently or so quickly. This is the
case with Play MPE®, and it is a good thing!” According to Dishon, Play
MPE® has changed the way they do business. “We used to have to
manufacture a CD and wait 30 days to ship a single out to radio. Just
last week we were delivered a mastered single around 2 pm and it was in
the system and sent to radio by 4 pm and we had an ‘add’ on the song the
following morning!"
Derek Jones, VP Promotional Marketing,
Word Label Group also gives kudos to the system. "We love PLAY MPE®!
It has revolutionized the way we deliver music to radio...quick and
quality downloads that are safe and secure!"
Play MPE®
is the only system to deliver HD audio from source to destination at
high download speeds without conversion to a lower quality format such
as WMA. Radio stations receive the latest music instantly without
sacrificing audio quality. Play MPE® has become the delivery standard
for Christian radio with 100% of Christian reporting radio stations
installed with the system. (5/28)

“Word
and Worship Weekly,” hosted by veteran Christian radio
personality and Bible League’s media specialist, Scott Thunder, is
now in 250 markets. Launched in 2007, in an effort to fill a void in
nationally-syndicated praise and worship radio programs, the program
was specifically designed to edify, empower, and encourage listeners
with God’s Word and modern worship songs.
“We praise God for the growth of the radio ministry, but more
importantly we praise God for purpose of the show,” says Thunder.
“It is intentionally designed not to entertain, but to minister to
listeners with God’s Word and song.” For more information

The
Real: Inside the Music, Outside the Norm, a new program for
Christian radio will lainch later this month. Hosted by Shimmy, The Real
is a program that seeks to discover the real person behind the imaging
of an artist and their music, going deeper to make a lasting connection
with listeners. Show host Shimmy says “It’s easy for fans to feel as if
the Christian artists they love are in a different league than
themselves. But artists are really just everyday people that hope,
fear, and dream about the same things we do. Faith-filled vulnerability
and humor is the bridge that I want to offer people with this show. It
is a place for fans to get to know artists in a whole new way.”
AmpedCreative, is partnering with Shimmy to help syndicate The Real on a
national level. Says Ken Farley, President, “When Shimmy shared his
vision for The Real with me, I knew right away that it was something
that AmpedCreative would want to get behind and support. I thoroughly
believe that if radio is going to continue to be relevant, we have got
to provide compelling content that captures listeners’ attention,
engages them in the conversation, and has them coming back for more.
The Real will launch the end of May in the form of
five two-minute segments that can be aired as daily vignettes or as an
hour-long weekly show. Check out
www.experiencethereal.com and contact Ken
Farley at (615) 331-0736 to add The Real to your programming lineup.

Sad to report that
Gospel
singer-songwriter legend "Dottie" Rambo died early Sunday when
the tour bus she was in ran off a road in southwest Missouri and struck
an embankment. Rambo has had more than 2,500 published songs, including
gospel classics such as "He Looked Beyond My Fault and Saw My Need" and
the 1982 Gospel Music Association Song of the Year, "We Shall Behold
Him."
"Dottie was
one of the most prolific songwriters the gospel music community has ever
seen," said John Styll, president and CEO of the Gospel Music
Association. "She was a friendly, fun person who I think people are
really going to miss on a human level." Rambo's new album Sheltered
is still scheduled to be released this summer, according to her
management. "She was what I call an original," said gospel singer Bill
Gaither. "She was unlike anyone else I knew. She was truly a poet and a
dear friend. This will be a big loss." (5/12)
