WGRC was recognized for Best
Newscast in the State among small market radio stations during
the recent Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcasters’
Association Convention in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. WGRC’s
three-person News Department of Terry Diener, News Director; Don
Casteline, Sports Director; and Jennifer Lunt, Anchor/Reporter
earned that distinction for the first time in station
history. Station General Manager Larry Weidman said, "We give
credit to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving us the
vision to make news a very important aspect of our contemporary
Christian programming."
WGRC is a radio outreach of Salt and Light Media Ministries
covering 15 Central Pennsylvania counties with contemporary
Christian programming. The grant and listener supported
nonprofit ministry was founded in 1984 and originally broadcast
solely from Lewisburg at 91.3 FM. WGRC is now also simulcast on
107.7 FM Bloomsburg, 90.9 FM Lewistown, 91.9 FM Pottsville,
101.9 FM State College, and 90.7 FM and 107.1 FM Williamsport.

new Fish 94 in Nashville sometime between July 9 and August 1.
They are taking over WYYB (93.7 The Phoenix) and WRLG 94.1 from
Tuned-In Broadcasting. No other details have been revealed at this

WCFL / Chicago has
been knocked off the air due to damages incurred from a storm
yesterday. Lightning reportedly struck the tower causing an
explosion to the transmitter building. No one was injured. Damages
are estimated to be between $75,000 and $125,000. Encourage and

The National
Christian Radio Alliance announces it's new name will be Christian
Music Broadcasters (CMB). The announcement came at a meetings held
this past weekend in Orlando to discuss it's agenda for GMA week
2003 April 5 thru 10 in Nashville. The CMB will now be totally

The Christian
Hit Radio Satellite Network (CHRSN) in Nashville announced
its newest affiliate, KTYX, Natchez, Mississippi. CHRSN manager,
Matt Austin said, "The operators of KTYX desired a family-friendly
programming source, and we're delighted to provide a service that
meets that need!" KTYX will air CHRSN programming 24 hours a day,
7 days a week and becomes the 36th signal to air The Christian Hit
Radio Satellite Network offered by the WAY-FM Media Group.

Salem Communications
purchases crosswalk.com for 4.1 million.
According to a Reuters report, Crosswalk.com
has signed a letter of intent to sell its Internet and e-mail
business to Salem Communications radio for $4.1 million in cash.
The acquisition is subject to certain conditions, including the
approval by Salem Communications' board of directors and
Crosswalk.com's shareholders, the companies said in a statement.
"The acquisition of Crosswalk.com's market-leading Internet
business is a significant step forward in Salem's online
strategy," Ed Atsinger, Salem Communications' chief executive said
in a statement. Crosswalk said it plans to continue its
offline advertising business, which serves more than 50
advertisers and 225,000 churches.

asking all our readers to pray for Kip Johns (formerly of KCMS /
Seattle) and his 13 year-old son Mike Johns who were injured in a
tragic car accident Saturday night that took the life of Kips wife
Suzzanne, his 7 year-old son Ty, and 20 month-old daughter Ashley.
The family were on the way to Sacramento were Kip is the evening
personality at the K-Love Network. The report says Kip was driving
his Plymouth Voyager Saturday night when they collided with
another vehicle on Washington Hiway 12. The report also says the
driver of the other vehicle could face vehicular homicide charges.
