KGNZ/Abilene (KGNZ at Night) (#therockshow) traveled to Midland, TX to provide full live coverage – a first for KGNZ, at the 19th Rock the Desert festival. A highlight of this coverage included two full At Night broadcasts on location including live appearances from the bands Set For the Fall and Brave Days. Other artists visiting the broadcast booth and giving interviews included Memphis May Fire’s Matty Mullins, 7eventh Time Down, and Aaron Cole. KGNZ at Night Host Dustin Tatro was invited to the main stage to introduce both Spoken and Memphis May Fire to the crowd, many of whom came by to express great excitement to find there’s somewhere in West Texas they can turn to nightly for Christian rock and rap fare that’s a little bit more deep than the mainstream. For crowd interaction, the show provided basic water games and hourly giveaways for family sets of passes to a regional water park. A partial lineup for the 20th anniversary festival in August 2019 has been announced to include Disciple, Lecrae, and TobyMac.
