GENERAL SUMMARY: The KCMS/KCIS General Manager (GM) serves as GM for Seattle stations.

Execute and implement station strategy as directed by the VP of Media. Guide KCMS to compete successfully in ratings and revenues in the Seattle commercial radio arena. Protect both stations’ FCC license. Set and maintain high standards in station operations and programming. Oversee recruitment, employee development and performance, operating expenses and overall financial performance. Fundraise with support and coordination from Resource Advancement. Cultivate relationships with local faith-based organizations in collaboration with the office of VP/Faith Engagement.

Assist the VP of Media in establishing annual station revenue budgets and sales department goals. Oversee and provide leadership to Media’s sales departments. Develop and implement best practices, operational standards, and systems to maximize productivity and yield of the sales department in the following areas: forecasting revenue, AE accountability, account list management, inventory management, and sales department policy. Generate ad revenue proportionate with industry standards. Support other ministries by making advertising available on stations for sister ministry use. Report revenue performance & assist in forecasting financial data to the VP of Media as well as the Chief Operating Officer.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: (Responsibilities, Accountabilities, and Competencies; May not include all duties of this job)

Station Management:

Oversee and implement strategic plans and operational policies for KCMS and KCIS.
Provide spiritual and business leadership to direct reports and staff using Best Christian Work principles and action plans.
Improve and monitor ratings
Develop and manage budgets and operating expenses.
Prioritize departmental objectives for Programming, Sales, Promotions, Engineering, and Ministry Management, in accordance with station strategic plan.
Develop, execute and oversee station policies, including commercial acceptance policy in conjunction with VP of Media.
Provide operational and strategic plan updates to VP of Media and the CRISTA “C” Suites.

Sales Supervision:
Collaborate with VP of Media:

Develop station budgets and control expenses
Set and implement commission plans, commercial and operational policies across all stations
Formulate and implement strategies and training
Monitor stations managing their pricing and avails to maximize yields
Drive sales department performance to meet all sales revenue budgets.
Assist Local Sales Manager to recruit, hire, train and supervise Account Executives, Sales Associates, Sales Assistants, and Traffic Director for KCMS/KCIS.
Work with the National Sales Manager and Digital Sales Manager to achieve revenue goals in national and digital sales.
Coordinate with Program and Marketing Director and Promotions on station promotions and events.
Design and implement Media sales marketing plan.
Coordinate selecting and contracting sales related professional services for all stations.
Back up National Sales Manager and Local/Digital Sales Manager.
Work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers and customers.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage Sales Assistant(s), Sales Associates, Local Sales Manager, National Sales Manager, Digital Sales Manager, and KCIS/KCMS Traffic Director to achieve individual responsibilities as outlined in each job description.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

Education: Bachelor‘s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or Communications from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience:

Five years Radio Sales.
Five years radio management.
Software and Equipment Used: Word, Excel, Tapscan, Maximizer, Qualitap, PowerPoint, Adobe, X-Ray, Wide Orbit, Efficio, Media Monitors and Internet Services.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Broadcast Station Management in Seattle.

Education: BA or BS in Management or Business Administration, or MBA.

Other Considerations: Successful track record as a radio station manager in previous positions. Ability to work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers, staff and customers.

Licensure/Certification: WA State Driver’s License
