Listener Engagement Director (AKA “Community Engagement,” “Radio Station Promotions”) – Joy FM/Winston-Salem NC

Joy FM is looking for a Listener Engagement Director. All applicants must be self-motivated, personable, eager to learn and professional in manner, dress, and grooming.  Impeccable people skills, as well as an ability to maintain and grow relationships, are central. Experience and passion as a community organizer, hospitality, and/or event coordinator is a must.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Listener Engagement Director is responsible for leading all efforts to engage listeners through events, opportunities, incentives, giveaways, and special programs. The Listener Engagement Director must comply with established policies and procedures.

SCOPE OF THE POSITION

The Listener Engagement Director reports to the General Manager and is responsible for maintaining the pace of the station’s listener engagement practices. Promotions must meet best-practices and approved by this position before receiving full execution and endorsement by the station. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure that the station’s engagement, mission, vision, and customer service opportunities are accurate and up to date.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
(Major responsibilities and target accomplishments expected of the position including the typical problems encountered in carrying out the responsibilities.)

-Sole responsible person overseeing all promotional opportunities

-Primary responsible person for the building, studios, facilities, vehicle fleet, generators, and staffing reinforcement

-Cars (cleaning, maintenance)

-Remote/Event staffing

-Oversee normal routine building maintenance & repairs

-Off-Air Troubleshooting & communicating with Engineers & Technicians

-Sharathon assistance & engagement planning
-Conduct audience research at concert events
-Assistant to the General Manager with various responsibilities

NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other responsibilities and target accomplishments expected of the position including the typical problems encountered in carrying out the responsibilities.)

-On-air talent as-needed. Although a non-essential duty to this position, on-air talent performance becomes a high priority when needed

-Assistance to FCC paperwork and public file maintenance and reports

-Other duties as assigned by management

Physical Demands

The Listener Engagement Director will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment, audio equipment in studios, and computers, which can cause muscle strain. The Promotions & Engagement Director will also have to do some lifting of supplies, broadcast and satellite equipment, cases of CDs, and materials from time to time.

Environmental Conditions

(The nature of adverse environmental conditions affecting the incumbent)

The incumbent is located in both a private office and in shared-use studios. The incumbent is faced with moderate interruptions and must meet with others on a regular basis.

Sensory Demands

The incumbent must spend long hours in intense concentration. The incumbent must also spend long hours on the computer various other tasks which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.

Mental Demands

(Conditions that may lead to mental or emotional fatigue)

There are a number of deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant stress. The incumbent must also deal with a wide variety of people on various issues.
