It’s the beginning of the year and a lot of organizations including non-profits are thinking through the coming year and what they want to see happen. A lot of plans are being made.
One of the things we try to help the organizations we serve come to realize is that no plan can be achieved without goals. Sounds simple, right? And yet many of the organizations we partnered with last year were all about making plans, with no real emphasis on the goals.
GOALS COME BEFORE PLANS.
Without a goal, you can’t plan your day, week, month, let alone the year. The goal gives us the information we need to design our day, month, and year. Many times we outline these plans that we have to grow our audience, increase our donor base, add a special outreach event to our station, but we have no real GOALS in how to get there.
Remember this: A goal is the FIRST STEP toward a well-executed plan.
What are your goals for 2016? Our team at Heart Share recently sat down and talked about our goals for 2016-personal, occupational, ministry, family, financial, educational, organizational, etc. Those goals became the picture of our what we wanted our future to look like. Then we began asking, what is the plan we need to execute to achieve those goals? That’s a totally different question. That is where the work begins.
We enjoy coming alongside dozens of organizations every year and helping them think through their goals and coming up with an executable plan for developing their partnerships, leadership in their organization, and growing their revenue. We believe the best days for ministry are ahead of us. We know what has worked in the past and through innovation and creativity, we are discovering with our clients what IS working, and what WILL work in the future.
